Dodge Charger SRT8 6.1L Tuning

Dodge Charger SRT8 6.1L Remote Custom Tuning — HP Tuners & Diablosport

N2 Speed builds custom calibrations for the Dodge Charger SRT8 6.1L 6.1L HEMI — remotely, so your car never has to sit at a shop for a week. Every file is written for your specific combination of modifications, fuel and driving use, on either HP Tuners or Diablosport hardware. We do not resell canned maps.

The 6.1L SRT8 responded well to calibration from the factory onward: it left the plant with conservative timing, soft part-throttle fueling and a lazy 5-speed shift strategy. Correcting those is where the first 25-35 hp and most of the drivability improvement comes from.

Dodge Charger SRT8 6.1L Coverage

  • 2006-2010 Charger SRT8 6.1 — 425 hp, W5A580 5-speed automatic
  • 2007-2008 Super Bee — same 6.1L calibration platform
  • Chrysler 300C SRT8 and Magnum SRT8 — same 6.1L platform, ask us for a quote
  • All model years — NGC PCM, flashes through the OBD-II port with no unlock

The 6.1L uses the pre-2015 NGC PCM, so it flashes through the OBD-II port — no unlock service and no security bypass cable required.

What Our 6.1L HEMI Calibration Addresses

We focus on 6.1L spark and fuel tables, the aggressive SRT throttle and torque management strategy, closed-loop fueling, cooling fan and rev limits, and W5A580 5-speed shift firmness and part-throttle behaviour. Common supporting modifications we tune around include cold air intake, long-tube headers, cat-back exhaust, ported throttle body, ported intake manifold, camshaft package, stroker short block, Kenne Bell or ProCharger supercharger, nitrous.

HP Tuners or Diablosport

Each stage is sold in two versions. The HP Tuners tunes are written for HP Tuners MPVI4 with Pro Feature Set and need 2 credits for this platform. The Diablosport tunes load through the Diablosport inTune i3 Platinum or Diablosport Trinity 2 handheld, with no credit system at all. Same tuner, same revision support, different hardware.

HP Tuners Credits Needed

Credits are how HP Tuners licenses a vehicle. They load onto your interface and are spent once, the first time the module is read.

  • Engine Only — 2006-2010 6.1L HEMI: 2 Universal Credits

The 6.1L SRT8 uses the W5A580 5-speed automatic, which HP Tuners does not license as a separate controller, so transmission work is sold as tuning labor rather than extra credits.

Credit requirements are set by HP Tuners and can change. If you are unsure, send your VIN to sales@n2speed.com and we will confirm before you buy anything.

What Every Tune Includes

  • A custom calibration written for your 6.1L HEMI, modifications and fuel
  • Optimized fuel, spark and torque management tables
  • W5A580 5-speed shift strategy adjustments when transmission tuning is added
  • Speed limiter removal, cooling fan and rev limit adjustments on request
  • Revisions after data log review until the car runs correctly
  • Direct access to the tuner who wrote your file — not a ticket queue

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a Dodge Charger SRT8 6.1L tune cost?

Our Dodge Charger SRT8 6.1L remote tunes are $450 for Stage 1 (stock and bolt-on builds), $550 for Stage 2 heads, cam or stroker builds, and $650 for Stage 3 supercharged, turbocharged or nitrous builds. Revisions after data log review are included.

How much horsepower will a tune add to my Dodge Charger SRT8 6.1L?

On 93 octane a Stage 1 calibration typically returns 25-35 hp and 30-40 lb-ft at the crank on 93 octane. Stage 2 builds see 70-120 hp with a cam package, cylinder head work or a stroker build, and Stage 3 builds see 150-300+ hp on a supercharger or turbo kit with supporting fuel. Results depend on your modifications, fuel quality, altitude and ambient temperature.

Does my 6.1L SRT8 need a PCM unlock?

No. Stellantis started locking PCMs on 2015 and newer vehicles. The 6.1L SRT8 uses the earlier NGC controller and flashes straight through the OBD-II port, so there is no unlock fee and no security bypass cable to buy. If a module has already been damaged or is not responding we also offer Dodge PCM bench tuning service.

Should I choose HP Tuners or Diablosport?

Both get you the same calibration work. Choose HP Tuners MPVI4 with Pro Feature Set if you want full table-level control, data logging and the ability to tune other vehicles later. Choose the Diablosport inTune i3 Platinum or Diablosport Trinity 2 if you want a simple handheld you plug in, load the file and drive. If you already own either device, buy the matching tune and use what you have.

Can you tune the 5-speed automatic as well?

Yes. We adjust W5A580 shift firmness, shift points, part-throttle behaviour and torque management as an add-on for $100 on any stage. There are no extra HP Tuners credits for it on this platform.

How long does the tuning process take?

Your first calibration is normally emailed within 1-2 business days of us receiving your vehicle information and stock file. Revisions are done in the order they are received during business hours. Set time frames are available with notice. After-hours and weekend revisions are done when available.

Will a custom tune affect my factory warranty?

These cars are long out of factory warranty, but modifying the calibration can affect any aftermarket or powertrain coverage you carry. We recommend returning to the stock file before any dealer visit.
