The 5.7L and 6.4L HEMI use MDS cylinder deactivation, which we can switch off as part of a tune. The 6.1L HEMI and the 3.6L Pentastar V6 were never built with MDS. All HEMI calibration work is done on the MAP-based Stellantis strategy — these engines are speed-density, not MAF-metered.

How much horsepower does a Chrysler 300 have?

Factory output depends on the engine: the 3.6L Pentastar V6 makes 292 hp and 260 lb-ft (300 hp and 264 lb-ft in the 300S), the 5.7L HEMI V8 makes 363 hp and 394 lb-ft in 2011 and newer cars, the 6.1L HEMI in the 2005-2010 300C SRT8 makes 425 hp and 420 lb-ft, and the 6.4L 392 HEMI in the 2012-2014 300 SRT8 makes 470 hp and 470 lb-ft.

How much horsepower will a tune add to a Chrysler 300?

On a 5.7L or 6.4L HEMI, a Stage 1 custom tune on 93 octane typically returns 25-35 wheel horsepower and 30-40 wheel lb-ft along with sharper throttle and firmer shifts. A cam and bolt-on build sees 70-120 wheel horsepower, and a supercharged or turbocharged build sees 150 wheel horsepower and up depending on boost and fuel. Results vary with modifications, fuel quality, altitude and temperature.

How much does a Chrysler 300 tune cost?

Does a 2015 or newer Chrysler 300 need a PCM unlock before tuning?

Yes. Every 2015 and newer Chrysler 300 has a locked PCM, so it must be unlocked before any custom calibration can be flashed. We handle that with our 2015+ Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and RAM PCM unlock service, and 2014 and older cars flash directly with no unlock needed.

Can you turn MDS off on a Chrysler 300?

Yes, on the 5.7L and 6.4L HEMI, which are the only 300 engines that use MDS cylinder deactivation. Disabling MDS removes the cylinder-deactivation drone and the lifter failure mode that comes with it. The 6.1L HEMI and 3.6L Pentastar V6 never had MDS.

Can you tune the transmission on a Chrysler 300?

Yes. We tune the NAG1 5-speed on earlier cars and the ZF 8-speed (8HP70 / 8HP90) on 2012 and newer cars, adjusting shift points, shift firmness and torque management. Transmission tuning is where a heavier build gains most of its drivability.
