Chevrolet Camaro 5.7L LS1 Tuning

Chevrolet Camaro 5.7L LS1 Remote Custom Tuning with HP Tuners

N2 Speed builds custom HP Tuners calibrations for the Chevrolet Camaro 5.7L LS1 and its 5.7L LS1 V8 — remotely, so your Camaro never has to sit on someone else's dyno for a week. Every file is written for your specific combination of modifications, fuel and driving use. We do not resell generic canned maps.

Tuning is handled by email and data log review: you send us your stock file and vehicle details, we build the calibration, you flash it with your HP Tuners interface, then we refine it from your logs until the car is exactly where it should be.

Chevrolet Camaro 5.7L LS1 Coverage

  • 1998-2000 Camaro Z28 and SS 5.7 LS1 — 305-320 hp, T56 6-speed or 4L60E automatic

HP Tuners Credits for the Chevrolet Camaro 5.7L LS1

Total Credits Needed

Credits are how HP Tuners licenses each vehicle. They load onto your MPVI4 and are spent once, the first time the module is read. Adding transmission tuning means a second module is licensed, so the credit total goes up — the options above already include both.

  • Engine Only — 1998-2002: 2 Universal Credits

Manual transmission? There is no transmission control module to calibrate, so choose Engine Only and select not applicable under Transmission Tuning.

Credit requirements are set by HP Tuners and can change with model year. If your car is not listed exactly, send your VIN to sales@n2speed.com and we will confirm before you buy anything.

What Every Tune Includes

  • A custom calibration written for your 5.7L LS1 V8, modifications and fuel
  • Optimized fuel, spark and torque management tables
  • MAF and volumetric efficiency tables corrected for your airflow
  • Transmission shift strategy adjustments on automatic cars
  • Revisions after data log review until the vehicle runs correctly
  • Optional speed limiter removal, fan threshold and drive mode adjustments
  • Direct access to the tuner who wrote your file — not a ticket queue

What You Need Before You Order

  • An HP Tuners interface such as the HP Tuners MPVI4 with Pro Feature Set, plus credits for your vehicle
  • A Windows laptop with HP Tuners VCM Suite installed
  • Your stock read (we will walk you through pulling it)
  • A wideband air/fuel gauge — recommended for Stage 2, required for Stage 3

How Remote Tuning Works

  1. Order your stage. Pick the package that matches your build.
  2. Send your information. Email your VIN, mod list, fuel type and stock read to sales@n2speed.com.
  3. Flash the file. We email your calibration, normally within 1-2 business days.
  4. Log and refine. Send data logs; we revise until the 5.7L is dialed in.

Revision turnaround: Revisions are done in the order they are received during business hours. Set time frames are available with notice. After-hours and weekend revisions are done when available.

GM Modules, Unlocks and Bench Work

Chevrolet does not lock the Camaro engine computer the way Stellantis locks 2015 and newer Dodge PCMs, so engine tuning is a straight OBD-II flash. The exception is the 2017 and newer 8-speed and 10-speed T87A transmission module, which needs our GM ECM and TCM unlock & programming service before it can be written. For modules that are damaged or will not communicate we also offer GM PCM bench tuning service. Send your VIN and we will confirm which route yours needs before you spend anything.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a Chevrolet Camaro 5.7L LS1 tune cost?

Our Chevrolet Camaro 5.7L LS1 HP Tuners remote tunes are $450 for Stage 1, $550 for Stage 2 and $650 for Stage 3. Pricing includes revisions after we review your data logs.

How much horsepower will a tune add to my Chevrolet Camaro 5.7L LS1?

On 93 octane a Stage 1 calibration typically returns 15-25 hp and 20-30 lb-ft at the crank on 93 octane. Stage 2 builds see 60-110 hp depending on the cam and cylinder head package, and Stage 3 builds see 120-250+ hp depending on blower or turbo choice, boost level and fuel. Actual results depend on your modifications, fuel quality, altitude and ambient temperature.

Do I need to unlock anything before tuning?

No. Unlike 2015 and newer Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and RAM vehicles, the Chevrolet Camaro 5.7L LS1 ECM is not locked. You read the stock file and flash our calibration straight through the OBD-II port. If a module is damaged or will not communicate we also offer GM PCM bench tuning service.

How many HP Tuners credits do I need?

  • Engine Only — 1998-2002: 2 Universal Credits
Credits are licensed per module, so adding transmission tuning increases the total. The credit options on each product page already include the right count.

Can you tune the transmission too?

Yes, on automatic cars. Transmission tuning sharpens shift points, firmness and torque limiting, and it is where a heavy build gains most of its drivability. It licenses a second module, so the credit count goes up — the option on each product page already accounts for it.

What equipment do I need for remote tuning?

An HP Tuners interface — we recommend the HP Tuners MPVI4 with Pro Feature Set — the credits for your vehicle, a Windows laptop with VCM Suite installed, and an internet connection. A wideband air/fuel gauge is recommended for Stage 2 and required for Stage 3. You can add the interface and credits to your order.

How long does the tuning process take?

Your first calibration is normally emailed within 1-2 business days of us receiving your vehicle information and stock file. Revisions are done in the order they are received during business hours. Set time frames are available with notice. After-hours and weekend revisions are done when available.

Can you tune a completely stock Chevrolet Camaro 5.7L LS1?

Yes. A stock 5.7L LS1 V8 still leaves power, throttle response and transmission behaviour on the table. Stage 1 is designed exactly for stock and lightly modified vehicles.

Will a custom tune affect my factory warranty?

Modifying the factory calibration can affect powertrain warranty coverage. We recommend returning to the stock file before any dealer visit. Full terms appear on each product page.
