This mail-in service unlocks your 2015–2024 Dodge, Jeep, RAM, or Chrysler PCM specifically for use with HP Tuners. If you already own an HP Tuners MPVI2, RTD, MPVI3, or MPVI4 interface and want to load custom calibrations, this is the service you need. We unlock your PCM, update it to the latest factory OS, and ship it back — typically within 24–48 hours of receiving it.

Supported Controllers
This service covers the GPEC2 and GPEC2A controller found in 2015–2024 Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, and RAM vehicles. The GPEC2A is the most common PCM in modern Mopar vehicles and uses the MPC5674 processor.
How to identify a GPEC2A: Look at the locking tabs on your PCM connector. GPEC2A controllers have grey and tan (beige) locking tabs. If your PCM has grey and purple tabs, you have a GPEC2 — contact us or see our combo listing to confirm compatibility.

What You Need After Unlocking
Once your PCM is unlocked and reinstalled, you will need the following to begin tuning:
- HP Tuners interface — MPVI2, MPVI3, RTD or MPVI4 (the MPVI4 is the latest and recommended for new buyers)
- HP Tuners VCM Suite — free software download from hptuners.com
- HP Tuners Universal Credits — 2 credits required to license your unlocked PCM for reading and writing
- 2018+ Dodge Smart Access Cable — required for all 2018 and newer vehicles (plugs into the OBD-II port alongside your MPVI device)

What You Can Do After Unlocking Your PCM
An unlocked PCM opens up the full power of HP Tuners VCM Suite. Common modifications include:
- MDS / cylinder deactivation delete — eliminate the annoying 4-cylinder mode on V8 HEMIs
- Performance tune — optimize fuel, spark, and torque tables for more horsepower and better throttle response
- Speed limiter removal — remove the factory speed governor
- E85 / flex fuel tune — calibrate for ethanol fuel blends for maximum power
- Supercharger / turbo tune — dial in forced induction builds with proper fueling and boost targets
- Cam and header tune — recalibrate for aftermarket cams, long-tube headers, and exhaust modifications
- Transmission tuning — adjust shift points, firmness, and torque converter lockup (if TCM is also unlocked)
- Rev limiter adjustment — raise or lower the RPM limit
- Tire size correction — recalibrate the speedometer for oversized tires
- DTC management — disable check engine lights triggered by aftermarket parts (catalytic converter deletes, O2 sensors, etc.)

How to Send Your PCM
- Place your order on this page.
- Remove your PCM from your vehicle. Most 2015+ Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/RAM PCMs are located under the hood near the passenger side Firewall. Search YouTube for your specific year and model for a removal walkthrough.
- Package your PCM securely in a box with padding. Include a printed copy of your order confirmation, your VIN, and the year/make/model of your vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Dodge PCM unlock for HP Tuners cost?
Our HP Tuners PCM unlock service is $199.99. This includes the unlock, latest OS update, and return shipping label. You will also need HP Tuners Universal Credits (2 credits) to license your PCM — those are purchased separately through HP Tuners.
How long does the mail-in PCM unlock take?
Most PCMs are unlocked and shipped back within 24–48 hours of arriving at our shop. Total downtime depends on shipping speed — many customers overnight their PCM and have it back within 3–4 days total.
What is the difference between GPEC2 and GPEC2A?
Both are Continental-manufactured PCMs used in 2015+ Mopar vehicles. The GPEC2 has grey and brown locking tabs and uses the MPC5566 processor (3 MB). The GPEC2A has grey and tan locking tabs and uses the MPC5674 processor (4 MB). The GPEC2A is the more common controller. Both can be unlocked for HP Tuners — if you have a GPEC2 we cover that as well.
Do I need a Smart Access Cable?
Yes, if your vehicle is 2018 or newer. The HP Tuners 2018+ Dodge Smart Access Cable is required to read and write through the OBD-II port on 2018+ vehicles. It plugs in alongside your RTD/MPVI2/MPVI3/MPVI4 interface. 2015–2017 vehicles do not need this cable.
Will unlocking my PCM void my warranty?
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a dealer cannot void your entire warranty simply because you modified your vehicle. However, if a failure is directly caused by a modification, the dealer may deny that specific claim. Read our full article: Can a Tune Void My Car Warranty?
Can I unlock my PCM myself without mailing it in?
No. The 2015+ Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep/RAM PCMs have factory-level security that requires bench-level access to bypass. The PCM must be physically removed and unlocked using specialized equipment. There is no over-the-air or OBD-II unlock method available.
What tuning software works after unlocking?
This specific unlock is for HP Tuners VCM Suite only. If you use Diablosport inTune or Trinity, you need our Diablosport PCM unlock service instead. The unlock is platform-specific — an HP Tuners unlock will not work with Diablosport, and vice versa.
