Why You Need This Service

From the factory, the GM E99 ECM is locked to prevent aftermarket tuning. Unlike earlier GM controllers, the E99 cannot be unlocked through software alone — it requires a physical bench-level upgrade performed by trained technicians with specialized equipment. Once upgraded, the ECM supports full read/write access through HP Tuners MPVI2, MPVI3, or MPVI4 interfaces.
