Description
Ford Mustang EcoBoost HP Tuners Stage 2 Custom Remote Tune — Bolt-On Plus
A fully custom HP Tuners calibration for your Ford Mustang EcoBoost 2.3L EcoBoost turbo I4, written by N2 Speed for builds with a downpipe or long-tube headers, intercooler upgrade, charge pipes, ported intake or an E30 blend. This is not a canned file: we build the calibration around your VIN, your modification list and the fuel you actually run, then refine it from your data logs.
Who This Stage 2 Tune Is For
Stage 2 suits builds with a downpipe or long-tube headers, intercooler upgrade, charge pipes, ported intake or an E30 blend. If your build sits between two stages, email your mod list to sales@n2speed.com before ordering and we will tell you which package to buy.
Expected Gains
Typical results: 70-90 hp with a downpipe, intercooler and charge pipes. Gains vary with modifications, fuel quality, altitude and ambient temperature. We calibrate for reliable, repeatable power — not a dyno number you cannot drive.
What We Tune
- Boost control, wastegate duty, fueling and ignition timing — where almost all of the ecoboost's hidden power lives
- Wide-open-throttle and part-throttle fueling
- Ignition timing with knock-safe margins for your fuel
- Throttle mapping and torque management limits
- Transmission shift points, firmness and torque limiting where applicable
- Optional speed limiter removal, rev hang removal and drive mode tweaks
Vehicle Fitment
2015-2025 Mustang EcoBoost, including the High Performance Package. 2024-2025 S650 EcoBoost runs the MG1 ECM and is fully supported — no extra hardware needed beyond an MPVI4.
What You Need
- HP Tuners MPVI4 with Pro Feature Set or another HP Tuners interface, plus credits for your vehicle
- Windows laptop with HP Tuners VCM Suite installed
- Ability to record and send data logs
- Wideband air/fuel gauge — recommended for this stage
Add Transmission Tuning (+$200)
An engine tune alone leaves the factory shift calibration in place, and on a modified vehicle that is usually what holds the power back. Add transmission tuning and we calibrate the 6R80 6-speed and 10R80 10-speed automatic alongside your engine file so the drivetrain behaves like it was built for the power it now makes.
What Transmission Tuning Changes
- Firmer, faster shifts with reduced slip and less clutch and band wear under load
- Shift points and shift scheduling matched to your engine's new torque curve
- Raised or removed factory torque limiting that pulls timing during shifts
- Revised torque converter lockup strategy for less heat and crisper part-throttle response
- Adjusted line pressure to hold the extra torque instead of slipping
- Recalibrated wide-open-throttle and part-throttle downshift behavior
Transmission tuning is strongly recommended on any vehicle making meaningful extra torque, and effectively required once you are into Stage 3 power levels — a stock shift calibration behind a supercharger or a turbo upgrade is where transmissions get hurt.
Manual transmission? The MT82 manual has no transmission control module to calibrate, so there is nothing for us to tune — choose engine tune only. Do not add transmission tuning to a manual car.

Need an MPVI4 and Credits?
This is a remote tune, so we email you the calibration and you flash the vehicle yourself with an HP Tuners MPVI4. Already own an MPVI4 with credits available? Choose tune only and nothing extra is added to your order. If this is your first HP Tuners tune, add the interface and the credits your Mustang 2.3L EcoBoost needs right here and it ships ready to go.
How HP Tuners Credits Work
HP Tuners licenses tuning per vehicle using Universal Credits. Credits load onto your MPVI4 and are spent once, the first time you read your vehicle's PCM. They never expire, but they are consumed by the VIN they are applied to — a credit spent on this vehicle cannot be moved to another one later. Tune prices do not include credits, because owners who already have an interface should not pay for hardware twice.
Total Credits Needed
Credits are how HP Tuners licenses each vehicle. They load onto your MPVI4 and are spent once, the first time the module is read. Adding transmission tuning means a second module is licensed, so the credit total goes up — the options below already include both.
- Engine Only — 2015-2017: 2 Universal Credits
- Engine Only — 2018-2025: 4 Universal Credits
- Engine and Transmission — 2018-2025 10R80 automatic: 6 Universal Credits
2015-2017 automatic (6R80): HP Tuners does not publish a standalone credit count for the 6R80 transmission controller. Send your VIN to sales@n2speed.com and we will confirm what your truck or car needs before you buy anything.
Manual transmission? There is no transmission module to calibrate, so choose Engine Only and select not applicable under Transmission Tuning.
Credit requirements are set by HP Tuners, cover the PCM only, and do change from time to time. Not sure which applies to yours? Send your VIN to sales@n2speed.com or call (954) 406-8550 before ordering and we will confirm the exact count — we would rather tell you than have you buy a credit you do not need.
Buying the interface on its own? See our HP Tuners MPVI4 w/ Pro Feature Set listing.
